PostPosted: Wed Apr 20, 2011 9:07 pm    Post subject: Outdated - Cult of the Plush Gnome Charter and Core Rules

The Charter
Cult of the Plush Gnome is a casual and alt friendly Alliance guild on Windrunner. We are 21 or older, helpful, polite and fun-loving. We are PvE oriented. For those leveling, we provide a good environment for it. We don't focus on any one aspect of the game, instead we explore it all at our own pace.

Our Goals:

A) Respectful and Relaxed Atmosphere:
We're all 21 or older but we don't expect professionalism and maturity at all times. We are a safe haven from the trash talk in Trade Chat. We treat each other with respect and tolerance. Absolutely no offensive language based on gender/race/sexual orientation will be allowed. No debates about politics, religion, etc. We're here to enjoy the game and each other's company.

B) Anti-Drama:
We are dedicated to a drama and annoyance free guild. We strive to create a culture and environment where members don't feel the need to wince or turn off guild chat every few minutes. We want to have a guild you are proud to be part of. Unjustified drama will not be tolerated. If you can't handle concerns in a respectful and productive manner this isn't the guild for you.

C) Social Events:
Unique social events are part of the plan. Past events include a level 1 gnome invasion of Thunder Bluff, synchronized swimming demonstrations, gangs of furbolgs handing out flowers, virtual flash mobs, etc.

D) Casual Raids:
Our goals for raiding are simple – get everyone who is interested into the raids and have fun doing it. We take turns when it comes to raid spots. This means we sometimes end up with strange class combinations. This also means we sometimes don't get many bosses down. If making it through the current content before new raids come out is a big deal to you, then we aren't a good fit for you.

Stating these things as goals is simple. Making it work in practice is much harder. But it is the goal, and we will try. The guild leader and the officers are committed to doing most of the work if needed, but you need to help us help you. Just understand - It's not always just about you alone. It is about every player in the guild and also involves a large management component.

How to Apply:

- Read through this page and make sure we're the right guild for you.
- Select the Apply To Guild link on our home page [top, left column].
- Log in with your Guild Launch account or create a new account.
- Choose one of the following:
YES I would like to get member level access or become a member.
NO I only need to post in public forums or I'm not ready to apply to this guild.
- Select Skip Launch Code and Continue.
- Fill out the application and submit.
- An officer will contact you, either via whisper or in-game mail. We'll interview you to get to know you and give you an invite to a trial membership if we think you're a good fit for our guild.

Initiate period attendance
During the initiate period (typically four weeks) we need to have you at least somewhat involved in the guild. This doesn't mean you need to chat endlessly in guild chat, or log on for several hours a night. But if we hardly ever see you, or we really have no idea what you're like, we're much less likely to promote you to member status. Let us know if things have come up to prevent you from playing much during your initiate period.

What CPG expects from you
- A helpful and supportive attitude. CPG is about helping and having fun.
- Keep guild business in the guild. Any community will have it's drama and issues. Please get these resolved in private. Talking to an officer or using the forums is the place to do this, not guild chat. Please do not engage in arguments about this guild on the WoW forums.
- When we do wacky stuff, only participate if it's something you'll enjoy. These events are optional.
- Treat non-guild players with due respect. We don't expect you to be an angel. Just don't make us look bad. Remember you have the guild name floating over your head. Players may not remember you, but they'll remember the guild.

Mains vs Alts
All members are encouraged to have as many alts in the guild as they'd like. All members are required to pick one of their characters as their "main." The character with a guild rank of "member" is considered the player's main. For most considerations (such as raiding) mains are likely to be given preference.

We encourage a "mains before alts" environment. But there are no hard and fast rules about this. This wording is vague on purpose.

Switching Mains
Switching the main designation from one character to another is not to be taken lightly. A switch now and then (especially after an expansion pack) is acceptable, but the officers reserve the right to refuse a switch if the player appears to be subverting the best interests of the guild. To make a main switch, just post your intentions on the forums. Once that is done, an officer will change your status.

Inactivity
Any member or alt may be removed from the roster if they haven't logged in for over 5 months. We understand that real life is important and we will be happy to invite you back if you left on good terms. If you know that you will be inactive, please post on the AFK Notices.

Mains leaving
If your main leaves the guild, and you have alts in the guild, you need to pick one of them as your new guild main or your alts will be doghoused for a week. If you still have not contacted an officer or posted on the board about your situation, your alts will be removed from the guild.

If you leave the guild
If for whatever reason you decide CPG isn't a good fit for you, please be open and honest about it with us. Contact an officer, post a message on the guild forums, give us a chance to say goodbye and good luck. Even if we aren't the right guild for you we still want to part on good terms.

Members/Initiates Removed from guild
Usual reasons for removal or denial of membership
- Inactivity
- Hacked account
- Little guild interaction
- Creating more problems than you're worth.

We don't take booting members or initiates lightly. And we will make an effort to talk to you about problems first. But we also have to maintain a positive and enjoyable community.

Account Sharing
Members can not share an account with a non-member. Account sharing has caused serious problems for us in the past. We do not allow it.

Guild Bank
The expectation for the guild bank is that it will hold things people will take and use. Other than certain rare items, it is not a place to store things long term. If you see something you need, take it, use it, and when you can, replace what you have taken with something of approximately equal value.

Rule #1 - Do not use guild bank items for greed. Using them to level skills or grind levels is fine. Taking them to the AH or passing to friends is not.

Rule #2 - If you see something you can use, take it. People add things in hopes you'll come along, take it without asking, and get some solid utility from it.

Rule #3 - There is no obligation to use the bank. Only put things in if you feel comfortable doing so.

Rule #4 - Please try to put in items as valuable/useful/needed as what you take out. The key to a successful bank is balance.

Rule #5 - Once you put something in the bank, it belongs to the guild. If you leave the guild, do not expect to be reimbursed.

Initiates will only have access to the free-for-all tabs, but if you see something you need in the other tabs just ask an officer for it. This will typically not be a problem. If you are a member, feel free to grab things on your main if your alt needs them.

Disagreements and personality issues
In a virtual community where strangers are interacting in an environment with no real-world consequences, personality conflicts are bound to happen with distressing frequency. If you can't work your differences out in private, we have a "Guild Policy and Etiquette" section of the forum where these conflicts can be discussed by the guild. By bringing it out into the open we'll strive to make the guild stronger and more trusting. By resolving issues together we'll develop a culture where everyone has the same assumptions, and any unspoken rules are not complete secrets.

Language and profanity
The guild's policy on profanity and foul language is - Who cares? If you are truly an offensive person we'll find plenty of reasons to kick you out. But try to keep it reasonable. No one will be impressed with your ability to curse like a drunk 12 year old. At least make an attempt to amuse us. However, please try not to say things in the guild chat which a good number of members might consider offensive. This is a grey area, but please take it in the spirit it's intended.

HOWEVER - This lenient attitude *does not* extend to Ventrilo/Mumble voice chat. Many players have children, and they would prefer not to have cursing broadcast over their speakers. Please keep voice chat clean and mature. Think of the children.

Guild Chat
The guild channel is not a chatroom. It shares many features with a chatroom, but it's not one. It's also not Instant Messenger. If you fill it up with babble about every mob you see, or your 400th complaint about how the game sucks, or a minute by minute update on what your latency is, or endless requests to join us in instances you are too low level for, or ............. You get the idea. Please just keep the guild channel semi-clean. Friendly banter is fine, endless scrolling chatter is not.

Damage meters have no place in guild chat, party chat, or raid chat. That's a suggestion, not a rule. If someone asks for a damage meter just send it to them in whisper.

Mistakes
People make mistakes all the time. It is our guild policy that we won't get all bent out of shape over it. Admit you screwed up, promise to try not to do it again, and apologize to the folks you pissed off. We forgive you.

Self-Policing Community
One of the foundations of a community is trust in each other. We let you wander around Azeroth sporting the name of the guild because we trust you. We trust that you'll act in a civilized manner, that you'll treat others with due respect, and that you'll contribute in a positive way to both the guild and Windrunner. We give you the benefit of the doubt, because we trust you, so we ask for you to honor that trust and promise to be a good member.

In return you can trust the officers to make every good faith effort to treat you fairly and honestly. We're only human, but we will genuinely give it our best effort.

But we're not going to spend all our time babysitting the guild. We want to play and have fun as much as you do so it's our hope that this community will be self-policing. That is, all members will feel empowered to point out behavior which goes against the guild's best interests and the guild forum is the proper place for this policing to occur. That way we can hash things out, hear all sides, and hopefully come to a resolution.

This does not mean we need to deconstruct every transgression. Hopefully one of the things we'll come to an understanding of is what needs to be called out, and what's not worth bothering with.

Self-policing also means that officers will try to lead with a light touch. We're happy to be the people ultimately responsible, and to be the "bad guy" when necessary but we hope that the guidelines we settle on as a guild will be largely determined by guild consensus rather than dictated by the leadership. To facilitate that we hope we'll have our heated discussions in the guild forum rather than in guild chat or party chat. That way we can all add our two cents.

Getting Help on Your Quest or Instance
The facts -
- Guild chat is 90% worthless for getting help.
- Scheduling something is 90% effective for getting help.

One of the main functions of this guild is to help you. If you need help getting over the hump with a quest, or you want to finish an elite quest, please ask. This may or may not get you immediate help. If it doesn't, contact one of the officers and we'll organize to get some help for you.

Keep in mind that other players have limited time to play, just like you, and they're hard at work getting their own stuff done. And their stuff is just as important to them as your stuff is to you. Please be respectful of that.

Things we take a very dim view of -
- Asking 85s to "run you through" something.
- Getting mad when people are too busy to help you *right now*.
- Begging and power-leveling in general.

Please make an effort yourself to find guildies to help you, but don't get mad if it takes some time for that help to come together. Please post a thread in the Events Request forum. That's what it's for.

Basic Information about Raiding with CPG
Schedule
We are still working on gearing up enough characters to support two 10 man timers. Our goal is to have an early timer (Panda) start between 5:30-6:00 on various days each week and a later timer (Ready Check) start between 7:00-7:30 on weekdays, earlier on weekends. Each raid usually goes for 2 to 3 hours.

We do not run any current content 25 man raids at this time.

Invite policy
- For current content, mains are invited before alts unless role issues require an alt.
- Raid signups do not guarantee an invite.
- For older content, mains or alts are welcome, provided the toon is geared for the encounter.
- Raid invites will generally start 10-15 minutes before the posted start time, so please be on and ready prior to invite start time.
- Initiates are more than welcome to sign up.

General Instance Rules
In current content raids, loot will be rolled on using the rules below. In older content, loot is generally free-for-all. Legendary weapons may require their own policy, but so far CPG raids have handled these appropriately.

Roll priority for 10-man, current content raids
1. Mains & alts - main spec
2. Mains & alts - second spec
3. Anyone - third spec & vanity
